ABOUT CARRIED BY THE WINDS
CARRIED BY THE WINDS
SEPTEMBER 17–20 & 25–27, 2026
Inspired by the chaos of our times, Carried by the Winds is an aerial dance poem that honors the vastness of loss and the fragile beauty of what remains. Suspended between earth and sky, the dancers rise and fall as if carried by unseen currents, moving toward the light with grace, surrender, and quiet resolve. Their bodies become fleeting memories, whispered prayers, and echoes of lives forever changed. In the space between ascent and descent, the work dwells in the mystery of the unknown, inviting us to witness grief, impermanence, and the enduring possibility of transformation.
BLUE LAPIS LIGHT’S MISSION
Our mission is to create transcendent works of beauty that are offered as prayers for the planet by creating site-specific aerial dance works that align with our times and encompass our human experience. Blue Lapis Light transforms urban spaces and engages the environment and architecture with movement and music and is committed to providing opportunities for artists, teachers, students and the community.
The vision of Blue Lapis Light is to expand aerial dance into the community, to train new dancers and inspire audiences with a unique form of movement while making it accessible to all people.
Blue Lapis Light is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
From the Artistic Director
I am looking out of my window, birds are singing, sunlight is moving across the leaves and my thoughts are immersed in the magnitude of what is happening globally. As our world lives in the shadow of chaos, we offer as dancers and musicians an experience of beauty, transcendence, and compassion.
Walk with grace on the earth and peace in your heart Awaken to the wildness of your soul and live in its guidance. Seek the beauty of each moment as you flow in the ocean of mystery We are beings of light moving and dancing in the grace of universal love. – Sally Jacques
CARRIED BY THE WINDS Storyline
A Call to Prayer/In The Silence of Breath
In the silence of breath, the souls of the dancers awaken and enter the vastness and timelessness of space. Breath becomes the first invocation—a call beyond the physical body and into the infinite.
Beyond
The dancers journey beyond the familiar, orbiting and exploring unknown galactic terrains. They move through an ever-expanding universe, searching for what lies beyond the boundaries of perception.
Descent
A pathway of light guides the soul/dancer into the darkness of the cosmos. The descent is not an ending, but an entrance into the unknown—a surrender to the mystery that exists beyond light and form.
Transition
As individual souls move through the darkness, they begin to unite. The dancers cross thresholds between worlds, moving together to explore other dimensions of existence.
Traveling to the Unknown
The journey deepens. The dancers surrender themselves to the galactic world, allowing the unknown to carry them rather than resisting its pull. Movement becomes a form of trust, prayer, and discovery.
Carried by the Winds
Interwoven souls separate and reconnect, carried by unseen currents. Their pathways continually intersect—drifting apart, returning, and discovering one another again within the vastness of space.
Finale
Suspended within a galaxy, individual souls become one with the infinite. Each dancer remains distinct, yet together they form part of something immeasurable—a living constellation within the universe.
The journey ends not with departure, but with a realization: we are individual souls, yet we are all part of the infinite.

In Honor
In honor of all those who have lost their lives to war, violence, and environmental devastation—and to all those who continue to help survivors, protect the vulnerable, and rescue the animals caught in the chaos we have created.
