JULIE KATHLEEN HOLCOMB did not discover the wonders of dance until her second semester of college. Once exposed to the art, she could not get enough. From that point on she has worked hard to develop the craft and skills of a dancer. She was a company member of Collin Dance Ensemble, where she attributes her initial discovery and growth of dance. She delved into different forms by studying modern, jazz, ballet, contemporary, African, and ballroom. She studied under Enrique Juarez as she competed with her ballroom experience in the Dallas competition, winning first place in both her categories of salsa and the waltz. Julie graduated Suma Cum Laude with a bachelor of fine arts in dance performance from Sam Houston State University in 2008. She received the opportunity to experience American College Dance Festival in 2007 and 2009, where she performed in the gala concert in 2009 under the direction of Andy Noble. She now teaches in the Austin area and is absolutely grateful and thrilled to be a part of Blue Lapis Light, discovering another wondrous form of dance. Her most recent performance with Blue Lapis Light was Impermanence. |
