Ivry Newsome received a Bachelor's of Arts in Fine Arts from the University of Texas at Austin. While working on his degree in dance, he worked professionally with various Austin Area dance companies. Kinesis Dance Company, Rhythm Rituals New Afrikan Dance Company and Sally Jacques Productions were the main companies. He continues to perform in Austin the The Austin City Ballet, appearing yearly as the Rat King and Arabian in the Nutcracker. He also enjoys membership in Blue Lapis Light, a Austin based site specific aerial dance company. He has appeared in Requiem, Illumination and most recently Constellation.
