Alicia Marie Carlin discovered her love of dancing at the age of three during her first ballet class. She began her formal dance training in Okinawa, Japan, and because her family was always on the move she has had the privilege of studying many styles of dance in many different cities. She accredits most of her advancement in technique to the Payne Academy of Ballet in The Woodlands, Texas, where she studied with Jim and Bridget Payne. Alicia received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance Performance from Sam Houston State University in 2006 where she was privileged to perform a spectrum of styles with the SHSU Dance Company. After graduation she went on to perform as a principal dancer in the Houston Grand Opera's production of the Cunning Little Vixen and trained during the summer at Ballet Austin. It was at an American College Dance Festival that Alicia experienced her first Aerial dance class which opened up a whole new world of movement. Illumination was Alicia's first performance with Blue Lapis Light and she feels very lucky to continue to train and perform with such a unique and awe inspiring company.
